We look forward to caring for you!
If your PCP has recently recommended that you receive a colonoscopy, you may want to consider a direct access procedure at Abington Surgical Center.
Typically, a separate consultation with a GI specialist is required prior to scheduling the test. However, with Direct Access Colonoscopy, this additional office visit may not be necessary. If you are currently in good health with no medical complications, you can avoid the expense and delay of an additional consultation and schedule the procedure yourself (or with the assistance of your PCP).
Our team of board certified physicians and clinicians use state-of-the-art technology to perform the
endoscopic procedure and will provide the results directly to your primary care physician. The caring staff
at Abington Surgical Center will guide you through the process to ensure the safe and efficient delivery
of care.
Indications to schedule a Direct Access Colonoscopy may include:
- Screening colonoscopy for patients over 50
- Screening for family history of colon cancer
- Suspected stomach ulcer
- Follow up of polyps in the bowel
- Indigestion/heartburn
- Acid reflux
- Iron deficient anemia
Ideal patients for Direct Access Colonoscopy are:
- Generally healthy
- On few, if any medications
- Generally under the age of 70
